BEASTIES & BOTANICALS

Most of my work is inspired by my surroundings and i’m very fortunate to live just off our beautiful North East coast of scotland, so there is no shortage of inspiration.

The “Beasties & Botanicals” range of embroidered pieces, are based on my favorite things from my childhood, mainly hairy caterpillars and garden snails but also butterflies, dragonflies and plants like the good old Scottish thistle. These were all made to fit in a bundle of bespoke frames my sister had put together from some of the odd lengths she had available, which made every one of these pieces unique.

I still have a couple of these available and i do plan to release them as digital files in the very near future, so if you have an embroidery machine, why not sign up to my newsletter and stay informed about the imminent release of my digital library.

Tortoiseshell Butterfly

This was the one piece I kept. I’m usually more than happy for my work to go off to new homes but I couldn’t bring myself to part with this one!

A Nice Cup of Tea

Simply staining the backgrounds of these with tea, really aged them and got the look I was trying to achieve.

The Collection

Each of these took hours of designing and digitising but I was so pleased all the hard work paid off. Look out for the full range being released for your own embroidery machines soon
